New Technology by Apple to Replace Flash

California, May 15, 2010 - Apple is working on a new technology called Gianduia that can be used as an alternative to Adobe’s Flash. During World of WebObjects Developer Conference last year, Apple has introduced the technology to work as a framework for creating rich Internet applications.

Many Apple applications like the iPhone reservation system, the Concierge program for Genius Bar and Personal Shopping reservations, and One to One program are already using Gianduia.

Apple will support other design technologies like HTML5, JavaScript, and CSS instead of Flash. Apple has never supported Flash technology since the time the first iPhone was launched till date.

Steve Jobs, Apple CEO, clarifies the exclusion of Flash by referring it to be a ‘closed’ technology and all web related technologies should be ‘open’ in his opinion.

Although Adobe had provided the facility for Flash developers to export projects as apps for iPhone, iPad and iPod, but Apple restricts its developers to use of only Apple technologies for iPhone development. It believes that usage of third party technologies deteriorates the quality of the applications created.
