November 19, 2010 - Once again Android “fragmentation” is in news, on account of Angry Birds game that requires two versions of Android to run on different devises. As per the reports, the game isn’t compatible across the different versions of Android and thus the developers of the Angry Birds game are now planning to introduce different version for low end Android devices.
Android 2.1 Doesn’t Support Google Search App & Angry Birds
If the reports are to be believed then there’s even more exciting news from Google. Reports say that Google too has to think of introducing two different versions of Goggle Search App owing to the fragmentation of Android.
Though surprising to many of you who still don’t know it all, it’s true that not all Android phones are capable of using Google Search Apps. You might be compelled to use Bing (with due respect to Bing) instead of your preferred search engine Google in case you own Android 2.1. Now that means no Google Voice Actions would be there if it’s Android 2.1 that you use. If you are too addicted to using Google for searching and researching on the web, you must grab the Android 2.2 devices such as the Droid 2.
What’s even more distressing for Google followers is that not all Android phones would even allow you to use Android Market for downloading the Google Search app. However, you’d find the Google Earth on them. While some may find the entire story just weird as they’ve used Android 2.1 gadgets that actually support Google Search App, let me introduce you to the truth. And the truth is that many of the 2.1 devices had Google Search already in them as their operating system via the search box widget.
To cut the long story short, if you are too fond of Google that you want it right in your mobile then you must get your mobile infused with Android 2.2. While it’s hard to get access to the scenes behind the curtain, truth is that majority of Android 2.1 devices are de-Googled today for example the Motorola Backflip, and Samsung Fascinate.
