Top updates – for Improved Realtime Search

It's been just more than a year that Realtime Search was introduced by Google. Realtime Search instilled life in the SERPs with real time content streamed in a dynamic manner. There has been a steady improvement in Realtime Search and the latest addition is "Top updates". The Top updates section can be viewed on Realtime result page’s right-hand-side thereby facilitating the viewing of the tweets related to your search.

The UI for replay feature has also been updated thereby facilitating zooming back in time within miniscule time intervals that would appear as you move the cursor over the time line. Lastly, the "Updates" mode, which you see in the left hand panel on the main SERPs, has also been renamed to "Realtime" in order to render consistency to the feature names of Google.

Notifications about hacked websites

Now you can be notified about sites as to when they could have been spammed, defaced or compromised. Various automated tools are used for detecting the common signs of hacking on immediate basis. The moment a detection is made of this sort, a new notice would appear right below the result line saying "This site may be compromised."

Besides protecting the users, the notifications would also aid webmasters in quickly finding out if their sites are being misused by anyone.

Google Translate Gets Better

Translate feature of Google has come across three drastic improvements this week. The first one being the added ability of seeing alternative translations, so that you can easily understand the actually meaning of the word of the phrase you key in. You can even provide feedback to help Google improve its translation feature. There is also a virtual keyboard, so you can type in any language using the virtual QWERTY keyboard. And last but not the least, speech synthesis has been added for 3 more languages and there's a great improvement in the other 17. This way you get to hear the words besides seeing their textual translation.
