February 16, 2011 - Facebook has launched its upgrade this week. The upgrade, though not mandatory for the Facebook pages, would eventually be made so. The latest page update of Facebook imparts profile kind of look to the pages. The change has received mixed reactions from business community. While few think it is likely to confuse the pages with profiles, which is nowhere desirable by the businesses others think of it as a wonderful medium of directly promoting their business.
If you've a Facebook page, you can log in to your account on Facebook and visit your page's admin area for clicking on the Preview button to be able to look at your page using this latest format. The changes would make the Facebook pages to behave quite like profiles rather than fan pages. This would include a strip of images right across the page's top, wall filters, and navigation links at left side. The best thing about this change is that owners would now be able to browse Facebook as their Page. To be precise, the change would help boost your brand's visibility through the linking of relevant articles or posts, and taking part in discussions, etc. Since you would be posting directly under your business name, it's advisable not to post anything inapt on it.
If the new look appeals to you, then you just need to click on the Upgrade button and the new Facebook page format would be applied to it. Further, you are free to turn the upgrade on and off anytime with the link on the right side of the pages administered by you.
As per the reports, the new upgrade is expected to come into effect by the second week of March however users can start using it right away.
