A CakePHP Based Social Networking Site for One-to-one Connections

Client Brief

Client approached us with the requirement of design and development of the social networking site with one-to-one connections.

Our Endeavor

The social networking site will have two distinct user groups, and connections will involve a user from each group. We kept the functionality similar to that of dating websites, providing two sign-up groups along with interaction features between the two groups. We used CakePHP framework to develop the site & added functionality as given below:

Sign-up for two distinct groups, including validation of email addresses against a predefined list

Ability for users of groups to connect with someone from the other on an individual basis
Ability for a user of Group A to view profiles of Group B to invite them to connect
Messaging & instant messaging functionality b/w connections
Message history saved (like Facebook)
Admin portal for monitoring activity
