Client Brief
The client approached SynapseIndia for customization in his existing icakids.com and wanted us to make some functional changes in it.
Our Endeavor
Icankids.com is a website dedicated to a noble cause of motivating kids and inspiring them to live their dreams. Created a new theme for this WordPress based website and have done a number of tweaks. Let's discuss them here:
- Created two types of user role : Teacher and Student.
- Created tabbed content for the teacher guest page.
- Created registration, lost password, login functionalities for teachers.
- Created functionality to add/edit student for teachers.
- Created features to add class, create students for class, manage classes.
- Created template to show book list for the teachers when they need to assign book for the class.
- Created custom post type "Lesson" for the lessons of book.
- Created section to upload student in bulk using CSV and excel file.
- Customized the wp-commerce product description field. The product description will display different info on page for teachers and other users.
- Created custom post type 'digital-page' to manage digital pages for the student.
- Customized visual form builder and use the same on the product book page for the assignment form.
- Created functionality manage the order of the digital pages using drag n drop feature.
- Created feature for the admin and students to preview the book and digital pages using flip and turn js.
- Created functionality to add student answer into the page content using short code and the same short code value will be changes according the the student login.
Enhancements
A product based website, Icankids facilitates the personalization/customization of books as per the need of students. Further, the client approached us to develop few sections for his existing website, besides adding different functionality. The client further wanted his CMS based website to be fully editable. Working on the required enhancements, we employed PHP, MySQL, WordPress, jQuery technologies to make following modifications in the website -
- Book preview for guest and registered members
- Created Book PDF of the orders/books for the users
- Implemented the Text over images functionality on book preview and PDF
- Created the functionality in Admin section digital pages for the text over images and PDF
- Imparted the functionality to Swap the user uploaded image with page background image in PDF and book preview.
Further, the client asked us to make few enhancements on the website. Enhancements included developing few section/features for the website including text overlays on digital book & PDF, save user custom books on QA section, text over the images on book preview and PDF etc. Client also wanted us to do modifications in following:
- Admin section for the text over images and PDF.
- Swapping of custom user image and default image.
Working on the enhancements, our team created the functionality for text overlays on PDF and digital books. We also updated the Visual Form Builder to Save the user custom images in QA section besides doing modifications in Admin section for the text over images and PDF and swapping of custom user image and default image in existing functionality.
